- There are no identifying signs on the building.
- The location of Waratah is not given out, or known, by the general public.
- The service confidential.
Waratah remain a safe place by assisting with the following:
- Please do not tell anyone the name/s of people you see visiting Waratah.
- Please do not repeat personal information from conversations you may participate in or may overhear while visiting the centre.
Maintaining confidentiality ensures you are not placing other people in an uncomfortable situation.
Your counsellor will consider any information given to them as confidential. They will not discuss your case with anyone outside the centre without your written permission except in the following situations:
- When you give your counsellor information that indicates a child is currently at risk of abuse.
- If your counsellor has reason to believe you are in danger of harming yourself or others.
- If your file has been subpoenaed.
In each of these instances your counsellor is legally bound to report this to the appropriate organisations. There may be other occasions where your counsellor may need to discuss your case with a colleague in order to receive advice. In this situation only relevant information is discussed and identifying details are not revealed. Your counsellor will discuss this information with you at the commencement of your counselling. If you have any queries or concerns regarding confidentiality please feel free to discuss this with your counsellor.
WILL ANYONE FIND OUT I AM ATTENDING WARATAH FOR COUNSELLING?
Our counselling and administration staff understands that your privacy is paramount. This is why we request that clients do NOT give out our location to anyone or speak about anything they have seen or heard within the premises. Our staff is very careful about how your information is stored. If, however, you would like us to liaise or advocate for you with other professionals or organisations we are able to do this for you.
Should you feel unhappy or dissatisfied with the service you receive at Waratah, please do not hesitate to discuss the matter with your counsellor, or alternatively, the Clinical Services Manager.
